IC & RC Certifications

All applicants who wish to apply for Korea Certification Board of Addiction Professionals’ IC&RC certifications, they must reside or work in Korea at least 51% of the time in Korea.

Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICADC)

To earn the ADC certification from KCBAP

  1. All applicants must have a master’s degree in addiction counseling, social work, counseling psychology, or clinical psychology. If the master’s degree is in a not related field, the board will discuss some options that the candidate can take to achieve graduate certificate from our board approved institutions.
  2. All applicants must have 400 hours of ADC education from our board approved institutions specific to the domains and 10 hours must be counselor ethics.
  3. All applicants must have 300 hours of ADC Supervised Practicum with a minimum of 15 hours in each domain from our board approved hospitals and clinics.
  4. All applicants must pass the IC & RC approved ADC examination.
  5. All applicants must have 6000 hours of supervised work experience specific to the ADC job analysis.

Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICAADC)

To earn the AADC certification from KCBAP

  1. All applicants must have a doctoral degree in addiction counseling, social work, counseling psychology or clinical psychology.
  2. All applicants must have an active ADC certification.
  3. All applicants must have 200 hours of education specific to the AADC job analysis and 10 hours must be in counselor ethics and responsibilities.
  4. All applicants must have 100 hours Supervision specific to the AADC job analysis with a minimum of 10 hours in each domain.
  5. All applicants must pass IC & RC approved AADC examination.
  6. All applicants must have 2000 hours of supervised work experience specific to the AADC job analysis.

Internationally Certified Clinical Supervisor (ICCS)

To earn CS certification from KCBAP

  1. All applicants must have a doctoral degree in addiction counseling, medicine, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or social work.
  2. All applicants must have an active ADC certification.
  3. All applicants must have 10,000 hours of ADC counseling specific work experience.
  4. All applicants must 4000 hours of ADC supervisor work experience. (this 4000 hours may be included in 10,000 hours ADC counseling work experience)
  5. All applicants must have 200 hours of face-to-face supervision, which 100 hours can be electronically.
  6. All applicants must have 100 hours of education specific to the IC & RC clinical supervision domains with a minimum of 10 hours in each domain.
  7. All applicants must pass IC & RC C S examination.

When contacted to receive application for the certification, the certification manual and necessary documents will be emailed out to you.

RECERTIFICATION

ADC Recertification
  1. ADC certification is valid for 2 years.
  2. All applicants must submit a recertification application with 40 hours of continuing education certification.
  3. The continuing education courses must be from our board approved organizations.
AADC Recertification
  1. AADC certification is valid for 2 years.
  2. All applicants must submit a recertification application with 40 hour continuing education certification.
  3. All applicants are required to have minimum of 20 hour continuing education annually.
  4. The continuing education courses must be from our board approved organization.
Clinical Supervisor Recertification
  1. C S certification is valid for 2 years.
  2. All applicants must submit a recertification application with 6 hour continuing education certification which may be part of 40 hours of ADC or AADC continuing education.
  3. The continuing education courses must be from our board approved organization.
